This is strange cus i got these guns for $50 like three years ago. i brought These things here to Zambia and started up a lazer tag thing. The guns worked like a charm and i am very happy with them. Iv dropped them off of tree houses and left them out in the rain over night. Its a shame that Hasbro noticed that they are such a big hit and raised the price to triple the original. So if you got a load of money then get them. If not go on e-bay i mite sell mine.

9yo boy and his friends have fun running around the house with these. However, inside I find the "laser" reflecting off painted walls, making it too easy to score. Outdoors, the realistic range is no more than 75ft. It’s too easy for a player to restart his weapon and rejoin the basic game after getting taggged out. And it’s too easy for a player to cover the receiver. Seems quite durable. Would be nice if they vibrated when tagged.

I bought 2 pairs (4 taggers) from Amazon.com to have fun with my boys. Everything works as described: you can track hits, raise shields, reload, etc.
Unfortunately, one might also expect that it should matter where you aim the gun; this is core functionality that somehow didn’t make it into the design spec. Whether you aim at the ceiling, floor, wall, or whatever, when you pull the trigger every other unit will be "hit". Note that this does not require the target to be in the line of sight; just hit a ceiling or a nearby wall and the target will still be hit. It really takes the fun out of the game when there is no point in hiding or aiming. The winner is always the person who can pull the trigger fastest and all "games" are over in seconds.
I would have thought my unit was defective, but all 4 units behave exactly the same. Why would anyone bother to program all these possible games and forget to make it necessary to aim the gun? You can even fire the opposite direction and still hit all the units behind you. As they say, you can’t miss!
These units will probably last a long time without breaking, as they are on a shelf gathering dust.

I picked this up at a major discount, and I had low expectations, but my son loves it (and so do I). Fairly durable, impressive functionality.

I ordered two sets (4 guns). The guns are great. I thought one was dead right out of box, but I switched the battery holder with the battery holder from another gun and everything was fine. They feel very sturdy, but can’t help but worry about the kids dropping them. My nine year-old loves them. We play constantly, and his friends want to come play all of the time. THE GUNS ARE NOT COMPLICATED TO PROGRAM! Very easy. If you just want to start a game, pull the trigger twice . . . there is a 10 second countdown, and then the game starts, even if everyone does not start at the same time, no big deal. Excellent lazer tag system.
